Any one out there know of a good anti-rain dance?!?! Most OSCAAR fans would be willing to try just about any thing to get our OSCAAR feature in on Saturday. Weather sure has been a factor this season with one race rescheduled and the next one at Sunset in doubt until the morning of race day. But the skies cleared that day and we can hope for the same on Saturday June 28th when the OSCAAR Outlaws make their first visit of 2008 to Flamboro Speedway.
The 2007 season saw #22 Glenn Watson own the track with back-to-back wins including one on his first ever appearance in a Super Late Model. Watson has a great start to the 2008 season with a win at Kawartha. Standing only 10 points back of Rob Clarke, the 22 Team will be looking forward to a repeat win and re-taking the lead.
Fresh off a strong win at Sunset Speedway, Rob Clarke is also looking forward to Flamboro where Team 49 have been frequent visitors to the winners circle. The first two races of 2008 point to a very strong year for Clarke. But he is also well aware of the high level of competition in the OSCAAR series. No doubt about it, Clarke and Watson will have to contend with a full field of hungry Outlaws with names like Jeff Hanley, Derrick Tiemersma and TJ Woolsey recently rising to the top.
Several other Outlaw names to keep an eye on include Stu Robinson Jr, Shawn Chenoweth, Jeff Dunford, Ian Bourque, Mark Gordon, Drew Spicer and Shane Maginnis. Three of these drivers, Chenoweth, Dunford and Bourque, completed their rookie seasons last year and are already off to good starts this year. Chenoweth is another OSCAAR driver looking forward to the return to Flamboro, which has been his home track. Picking up his first OSCAAR feature win this Saturday would definitely be a sweet deal.
OSCAAR will join Flamboro’s weekly divisions, Late Models, Thunder Cars and Mini Stocks, on Saturday June 28 with the first green flag at 6pm. There will be a “Meet the Drivers Night” event and Autograph session at the intermission. Rain date if required is Sunday June 29th.
