OSCAAR heads back to Peterborough Speedway this Saturday for round two of three races on the 2009 schedule. After a much needed  two week break when several drivers needed time for repairs from Mosport, the OSCAAR drivers and teams are ready to go racing again. This will be a regular heat race and 50 lap feature format but the evening will feature a special for the early fans with complimentary corn on the cob courtesy of OSCAAR and Peterborough Speedway.

Glenn Watson holds a strong lead in the 2009 points heading into this weekend. Runner up Derrick Tiemersma suffered a set-back at Mosport with a wrecked race car and loss of points. But the 7 team aren’t giving up and spent the past few days making repairs to their Wayfreight Super Late Model. Both Watson and Tiemersma will race for the win and maximum points for the night and hope for good luck.

One driver who really appreciated a turn in luck was Jeff Hanley who took the most recent feature race at Mosport Speedway. At the last Peterborough race on August 2nd, Hanley had a very fast car but suffered a motor problem in the feature. He hopes to have that motor repaired in time for this weekend and will clearly be a threat again.

There are only four races left on the OSCAAR schedule, one that has been decimated by the rain during May to August. We caught a lucky break at Mosport and now heading into Labour Day weekend, the promise of continuous sunny weather is a very welcome respite. That should bring out the crowds and teams for a great night of racing – and don’t forget about the corn! Pit gate opens at 2pm, grandstand opens at 4pm and racing begins at 6pm.
