Ontario’s most anticipated stock car race weekend of the year is almost upon us. It is the 17th running of the Autumn Colours Classic at Peterborough Speedway. With the pits opening Thursday evening for parking and three days of racing from Friday October 9 to Sunday October 11th, there will be plenty of action for race fans to enjoy.
In a departure from tradition, OSCAAR will run its entire event on Saturday rather than heats on Saturday and feature on Sunday. For Autumn Colours 2009, the heat races will take place on Saturday afternoon and the feature race during Saturday evening – weather permitting. OSCAAR fans should be sure to have Saturday October 10th on their calendar. The entire weekend will be a blast and the place will be packed!
The long rainy 2009 race season claimed another casualty last weekend with the postponement of the Oktoberfest Classic at Flamboro Speedway. That had an impact on the OSCAAR Championship race. Rather then being wrapped up at Peterborough’s Autumn Colours as in past years, the Championship race will now extend to the following weekend at Flamboro when the postponed Oktoberfest is scheduled to run. Glenn Watson holds a 147 point lead over Derrick Tiemersma in a battle that will likely go the distance.
